How To Make Creamy and Healthy Ice Cream with Just 1 Ingredient

We all enjoy the sweet and delicious taste of ice creams, but what if you prepare one yourself at home using only 1 ingredient?
This ingredient can be transformed into rich and silky ice cream, without adding any dairy, sweeteners, or ingredients. Yeah, it is a banana.
You need to freeze it first and then blend it. And, it is not flaky or icy like other frozen fruits. Banana’s high pectin content makes creamy and rich ice cream.
Needed ingredients:

  • 1 large ripe banana
  • A knife
  • Cutting board
  • Freezer-safe container
  • Small food processor
  • Spatula

How to make the ice cream:
The ripe bananas need to be sweet and soft. Peel them and cut them into small and even coins. Put them in the container or use a freezer bag.
Place them in the freezer for around 2 hours minimum. Then, blend the frozen banana pieces in a small food processor or powerful blender. At first, the banana will look crumbled or smashed. Keep blending and the banana will look mushy. Scrape down the food processor and blend again. The banana will look like oatmeal. It will get smoother but it still has banana chunks in it.
When the last pieces of banana smooth out, the mixture will become creamy and soft like ice-cream. Blend for a few more seconds to aerate the ice cream. If you want, you can add some mix-ins.
Now, pour the mixture to an airtight container and freeze until it is solid. Then your homemade ice cream is ready.
Using a food processor works best because it makes the banana fully cream and a bit aerated. If you use a blender, make sure it is powerful enough to process the frozen bananas.
As we already mentioned, you can add some other ingredients to your banana ice cream. This is what you can add:

  • A spoon of peanut butter
  • Drizzle of honey
  • A handful of chocolate chips
  • A few almonds
  • Dollop of Nutella
  • A scoop of cookie butter
  • A tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon, cardamom or ginger
