Quaker Oats Is Being Sued For Putting A Cancer-Causing Pesticide In Their Oatmeal

Most Quaker Oats products have the label saying “100% Natural Whole Grain”. This made numerous customers to consume their products and feel comfortable about it. However, recently the company has been sued about their misleading tactic in the label.
California and New York customers have filed a lawsuit against the owner because of their allegation that their oatmeal has traces of the pesticide glyphosate.
An independent lab in California did a test to analyze the ingredients of Quaker Oats Quick 1-minute oatmeal. The researchers used liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, which is a procedure used by medical and chemical labs for drug research.
Researchers say the tested sample did include glyphosate traces. Although it was discovered in lower amounts than the legal acceptable limits, the company was sued for “false advertising” because it claims the product is all natural.
The company answered that they didn’t use this chemical in the oatmeal, and that probably the traces are results from the pesticides sprayed on the oats by farmers.
The chemical acts as an active ingredient in many pesticides which is sprays on crops everywhere in the world. It is believed to cause severe health issues. It was created in 1974 and is regularly used since then. The International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is part of the World Health Organization placed the pesticide into the category of “probable” cancer cause. Also, it leads to different long-term health problems.
The chemical has been related to birth defects. A Paraguay study discovered that the babies of mothers living within 1 km of area where glyphosate is sprayed have a doubled risk to have birth defects.
Experts say it is a result of the ability of glyphosate to interfere in the amounts of vitamin A, which is essential for fetal development. Moreover, glyphosates are able to disrupt the function of the the thyroid hormone.
Moreover, glyphosate affects the serotonin production in the body, and so affects sleep, mood, appetite, and may lead to depression.
Oats offer amazing health benefits when not loaded with toxins. Make sure you always choose organically grown oats and avoid cheap and quick alternative that is full with pesticide.
